Wed, 22 June 2011
The state governments of Srinagar, Jammu, and Kashmir in India have approved the Bathinda – Jammu – Srinagar Pipeline, according to Petroleum Bazaar.
The 750 km pipeline will run from Bathinda in Punjuab to Srinagar, via Jammu.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah highlighted the pipeline’s significance, saying that the project would help resolve the state’s energy problem, especially in winter months.
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board of India awarded the contract for the Bathinda – Jammu – Srinagar Pipeline to Gujarat government subsidiary Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation in May 2011.
Mr Abdullah gave directions for fast tracking the project so that its benefits accrue to the people in a time bound manner. It is expected to be completed within three years.
