According to Turkmenistan.ru, about 90 per cent of the work has now been completed.

The construction of high voltage transmission lines and fibre-optic communication lines along the pipeline route is nearing completion, and pipeline pre-commissioning activities are now underway.

The pipeline will run from the Central Karakum gas deposit to the Yilanli compressor station in the Dashoguz province, connecting gas fields in Turkmenistan’s desert region with the nation’s network and the Central Asia – Russia gas pipeline, which will transport gas from the Caspian Sea, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan into Russia’s gas network.

The entire pipeline is scheduled for completion in June 2010.
