Chevron and Mitsui plan offshore pipeline in Vietnam

Mitsui Oil Exploration and Chevron have agreed with their partner PetroVietnam to begin design work on a $US4 billion natural gas project in offshore Vietnam and its associated pipeline.

The project location is approximately 280 km west of Ca Mau, southwest Vietnam. The pipeline will carry gas from the offshore field which is expected to reach an output of up to 500 MMcf/d of gas in the first five years.

Investment in the gas pipeline and upstream development is expected to total approximately $US4 billion.
