China’s W-E gas pipeline enters trial operations

PetroChina, China’s largest oil and gas producer, reports that the section of its west-east gas pipeline linking Huaiyang in Henan province with Wuhan in Hubei province entered trial operations in mid-December.

The 475-km link has a design capacity of 1.5bn cum/yr. The pipeline, operated by PetroChina and its parent CNPC is designed to carry 12bn cum/yr of gas to the east coast, and began commercial operation on 30 December, 2004, one year ahead of schedule.
