China National Offshore Oil Corporation’s (CNOOC) Haikou – Wenchang natural gas pipeline has become operational in south China’s Hainan Province, according to Xinhua News Agency.
The 88 km pipeline is an extension of Hainan's Dongfang – Yangpu – Haikou pipeline project and CNOOC's LNG project in Hainan.
The natural gas pipeline will feed on the gas from the company’s Ledong gas field in the South China Sea, along the coastline of Hainan Island.
The entire pipeline will have a maximum gas transmission capacity of 757 MMcm/a and is expected to come online in 2015.
