The Walker Ridge Export Pipeline will run from the Jack and St Malo oil fields, in the deepwater United States’ Gulf of Mexico, to a Shell-owned and operated platform in Green Canyon Block 19 (GC19).
The pipeline – which will serve the Chevron-operated Jack/St Malo hub production facility – will originate approximately 450 km south of New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2,160 m of water, and terminate at GC19.
The pipeline will be constructed and operated by Chevron on behalf of the Amberjack Pipeline Company.
The scope of work encompasses the transportation and installation of a 24 inch diameter crude oil export pipeline, which will have a length of 219 km, reaching a maximum water depth of 2,140 m, connecting the JSM Floating Production Unit.

The offshore activities will be performed by the Saipem’s new-built pipelayer vessel Castorone in different timeframes, beginning in the first quarter 2013. Start up of the hub facility is anticipated in 2014.
The contract represents the first award for Castorone, the pipelayer vessel currently under construction. The 330 m long, 39 m wide Castorone is designed to lay large-diameter pipelines up to 48 inches in diameter.
