Representatives from Tamoil East Africa and the Joint Co-ordinating Committee overseeing the interests of the Ugandan and Kenyan governments, were expected to sign the final investment decision for the 351 km Eldoret – Kampala Pipeline according to Ugandan newspaper, The Observer.
The pipeline was originally designed to flow from Eldoret to Kampala, however the discovery of commercially viable oil deposits in western Uganda in 2006 prompted negotiations to reverse the flow of the pipeline to allow Uganda to export any surplus oil.

The pipeline from Eldoret to Kampala is to be built under a public private partnership between the Kenyan and Ugandan governments, and Libyan contractor Tamoil East Africa. The pipeline is expected to start construction in April 2009; however it has experienced some delay.
