Enbridge Energy has rerouted oil along parallel lines after discovering a leak in Line 2b of its Lakehead Oil Pipeline in North Dakota, United States.
Approximately 3,000 bbl of oil has leaked from the pipeline; however Enbridge has maintained service to both upstream and downstream customers by redirecting volumes between Cromer, Manitoca, and Clearbrook, Minnesota to available space on parallel lines in the Lakehead and Enbridge mainline system.
The damaged line has a 440,000 bbl/d capacity of oil and carries approximately one quarter of the total capacity of the Lakehead system.
Enbridge is continuing the cleanup and line repairs.
