Enbridge has signed a Letter of Intent with Chevron USA, Statoil Gulf of Mexico and Marubeni Oil & Gas to construct and operate an oil pipeline from the proposed Big Foot ultra deepwater development in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Big Foot pipeline will consist of approximately 65 km of 20 inch diameter pipe at a depth of 1,800 m, and will be located approximately 270 km south of the coast of Louisiana.
The pipeline will have the capacity to transport up to 100,000 bbl/d of oil and link into existing pipeline infrastructure.
The proposed crude oil pipeline follows Enbridge’s plans to construct the Water Ridge Gathering System, which will provide natural gas transportation for the proposed Chevron-operated Jack, St. Malo and Big Foot fields.
The estimated cost of the pipeline is approximately $US250 million. The combined Enbridge investment of both Big Foot and Water Ridge Gathering projects is estimated to be $US750 million.
