Myanmar has officially opened a 287 km pipeline which extends from the Yadana gas field in the Andaman Sea to Yangon in Myanmar, according to local media.
The 24 inch diameter gas pipeline is comprised of a 151 km offshore section, with the remaining 136 km section onshore.
The pipeline is operated by French firm Total SA and America’s Chevron Corporation, in partnership with the state-owned Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise.
Thailand’s state-owned company PTT is also a partner in the project, and a large quantity of the gas sourced from the offshore field is being transmitted to Thailand.
