"There are currently 13 compressor stations operating on the pipeline," Boris Posyagin, head of Gazprom's central production-dispatch department, said recently at a meeting in Krakow. "The launch of the last compressor stations in Belarus (Orshanskaya) and Russia (Rzhevskaya) is planned for the near future." The initiation on-line of the Zambruw compressor station in March this year brought the Polish section of the pipeline up to design capacity; according to Mr Posyagin, during the seven years the pipeline has operated, it has exported over 140bn cum of gas. Mr Posyagin also said that in the last 12 months over 900km of large-diameter pipe has been laid for the SRTO-Torzhok pipeline, which is connected to the Yamal-Europe line. "By the end of this year about another 500km of the SRTO-Torzhok pipeline will be completed, along with five compressor stations on the gas pipelines in Russia," he said. Representatives from Gazprom, Gazexport, Lentransgaz, Beltransgaz, EuRoPol Gaz, Gaz Sistema, and Wingas Transport took part in the meeting, at which a protocol was signed on co-operation on supplies of gas through the Yamal-Europe pipeline to Europe in 2006-2007.
