GAZPROM and the Austrian company OMV AG are planning to expand the capacity of the WAG (West-Austria-Gasleitung) pipeline. In addition to this, OMV AG said it was ready to assist Gazprom in expanding the capacity of the TAG (Trans-Austria- Gasleitung) pipeline, in order to increase Russian gas supplies to Italy.
According to the Russian company's press service, these were the issues discussed at a recent working meeting between Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller and OMV AG CEO Wolfgang Ruttenstorfer. The parties also agreed to start negotiating the extension of the contract on Russia's gas supplies to Austria. Miller and Ruttenstorfer have considered the prospects of expanding cooperation in geological surveying and gas production.
