Greece makes Burgas – Alexandroupolis Pipeline a priority

Construction of the Burgas – Alexandroupolis Oil Pipeline would make the southeastern European region a major player in the energy sector, according to Greek President Karolos Papoulias.
The statement came as Mr Papoulias met with his Bulgarian counterpart in Athens, in the same week that Greek Deputy Minister of Energy Janis Manjatis told parliament that the Bulgaria – Alexandroupolis Oil Pipeline has become a priority for the Greek Ministerial Council and that construction would commence in 2013.

The 278 km Burgas – Alexandroupolis Pipeline will bring more than 100 MMbbl of oil from the Black Sea to the Aegean Sea along an overland route that by-passes Turkey’s Bosporus and Dardanelles.
