“We have received expression of interest from Gujarat State Petronet (GSPL) to lay, build, operate the natural gas pipeline from Surat to Paradip. We are studying the proposed project and will call for bids through an open tender process for construction of the pipeline next month,” said a PNGRB official.

The proposed pipeline will originate from Mora, a major hub located on the GSPL gas grid pipeline network. Passing through Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, the pipeline will have five spur lines, totalling 124 km in length, and its endpoint will be the Indian Oil Corporation's 15 MMt/a refinery at Paradip.

The Gujarat – Orissa pipeline will require an investment of around $US1 billion and is expected to take three years to construct.
