J Ray McDermott has been awarded a contract to upgrade crude oil gathering and power supply facilities, and construct a new pipeline in Saudi Aramco’s offshore Safaniya Field, located 265 km north of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
The contract covers engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of a 53 km, 42 inch diameter trunk line, four new in-field lateral flowlines and valve skids, a new tie-in platform with a 6,000 t topside, a new electrical deck module for an existing platform (STP-18), 156 km of subsea electrical cable, and the modification and electrification of nine existing wellhead platforms.
Installation of the new pipelines will be executed by J Ray’s new pipelay barge, LB32.
Engineering design work will begin in the second quarter of 2010, with completion of the contract expected during 2013. The agreement will be valid as of 1 May 2010.
