The Kerala State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KIIDC) has signed an agreement with GAIL to develop the Kochi - Mangalore - Bangalore gas pipeline.
The agreement was signed by KSIDC Managing Director Alkesh Sharma and GAIL Executive Director of Marketing J Wason.
This pipeline will transport gas from Petronet LNG's Kochi terminal through Coimbatore to Bangalore. This pipeline project consists of 100 km offshore pipeline from Kochi to Kayamkulam designed for a capacity of 1.4 MMcm/d and an 860 km onshore portion designed for a capacity of 11 MMcm/d. The onshore portion of the pipeline passes from Kochi to Alwaye to Kanjirkod to Mangalore and Bangalore. It is scheduled for commissioning by the end of 2010 with first gas expected by March 2010.
The total length of the Kochi – Mangalore - Bangalore pipeline is 1,110 km and it will have a capacity of 16 MMcm/d. The pipeline is estimated to cost $US585 million.
