THE PROCESS Division of UK pipeline contractor Lawrence has secured a £600,000 contract from Transco to design and install new pipework at the Moffat compressor station. Lawrence’s 35-week contract comprises the construction of 550m of 900-mm high-pressure steel gas pipeline between feeders 11 and 12.
A third-party feed to the Bord Gas Eirean Interconnector will also be constructed to enable supplies between Ireland and the UK to be increased. Work commenced on site in June, and will be extremely complex, the new pipes being laid in rocky ground close to existing pipelines and compressors. The new pipes will be tied-in to the system upon completion in October, using under-pressure connections.
