The environmental impact assessment report for a 760 km section of the Nabucco gas pipeline has been officially submitted to the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation.
The submitted environmental impact assessment (EIA) report was for the section between Ankara and the Turkish-Bulgarian border.
Nabucco said “Intensive field studies along the entire pipeline involving a number of well experienced environmental and technical experts, as well as consultation with the public and administrative bodies have been conducted to address all relevant subjects in the EIA report.”
The EIA studies for the sections between Ankara and the Turkish-Georgian border, and Sivas and the Turkish-Iraqi border are in progress and planned to be submitted to the Ministry in the first quarter of this year.
The 3,900 km, 56 inch diameter Nabucco pipeline will link the eastern border of Turkey to Baumgarten in Austria via Bulgaria, Romania, and Hungary.
