Executive Director for the company J Wason said the plans for city gas distribution include the laying of 57 km of pipe. Also proposed for construction is 29 compressed natural gas stations.

GAIL has laid a spur line between Kargaon on the Dahej – Uran pipeline and Pune, and Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited will build the pipeline for local distribution. A total of 0.4 MMcf of gas has been allocated for supply to Pune.

In addition, former GAIL Marketing Director Shri B C Tripathi (pictured) has taken over from Dr U D Choubey as Chairman and Managing Director.

Mr Tripathi has said that “Sourcing and securing gas supplies is one of my topmost priorities.” This follows an announcement that GAIL will investigate importing up to 5 MMt/a of LNG to meet India’s rising demand for fuel.
