PRESIDENT Olusegun Obasanjo has been asked to persuade the Nigerian National Petroleum Co (NNPC) to extend its liquefied natural gas (LNG) pipeline from Ewekoro to Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. Making this request during a press briefing on events marking the first anniversary of his coronation anniversary, the Alake of Egbaland – Oba Aremu Adedotun – told reporters that the extension should be considered as an investment, rather than as a cost to industry.
According to the Alake, "by so doing [and extending the pipeline], not only will the existing ailing industries be revived, new ones will also be encouraged to move to Abeokuta and its environs."
