THE Norwegian government has approved plans for a new gas pipeline from the Njord field in the Norwegian Sea. The pipeline will be built by Norsk Hydro, the field’s operator.
The field is located on the Halten Bank, 130km NW of Kristiansund, and has been producing oil since September, 1997; the new project will allow for production of gas, and thus prolong the life of the field.
