They will join the US Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and American Petroleum Institute (API) at the Offshore Process Safety Management Conference to discuss the Safety and Environmental Management Systems (SEMS) rule from BSEE, a management system for offshore oil and gas facilities which came into effect in November last year, and which turns the well-established API Recommended Practice 75 into a regulatory requirement.

Global business intelligence provider DecomWorld, which is hosting the event, said that companies on the outer continental shelf are facing a number of challenges due to the rigorous changes in offshore legislation.

At the conference, occurring in Houston from 11–12 September, these ‘teething issues’ will be addressed, with discussions covering:

  • SEMS regulations and expectations;
  • SEMS implementation and development;
  • The proposed SEMS 11; and,
  • The operator successes and challenges to date.
