The Indian Cabinet has already approved the OVL proposal to go ahead with the pipeline project, which envisages laying a 12-in pipeline from Khartoum Refinery to Port Sudan for export of the petro-products from the refinery, the capacity of which is being upgraded by the country’s government. The pipeline will be designed for a throughput of 0.826mllion tons/yr in phase 1, and 2.54mllion tons/yr in phase 2. The pipeline will be laid in an existing ROW (right of way), and the project could be completed in 16 months. This is the first engineering and construction project won by the ONGC group outside India.
