A separate agreement was also concluded between the companies to regulate the operating aspects of transporting the oil through the OCENSA system.

The 804 km OCENSA Pipeline transports crude oil from the Cuisiana and Cupiagua oil fields into central Colombia, then to the port of Covenas.

Under the transportation agreement, Pacific Rubiales will deliver the oil volumes to either the Cusiana or El Porvenir stations, where it will be pumped through to the Covenas terminal.

The transportation tariff to be paid by Pacific Rubiales for use of the OCENSA pipeline is to be set by Colombia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy.

“Given the anticipated growth of production from the entire Llanos Basin and other basins in Colombia, and the limitations on existing transportation infrastructure, this agreement is a key initiative for us to secure continuous flows of oil production from the Rubiales and Quifa blocks at a low and competitive transportation cost,” said Pacific Rubiales Chief Executive Officer Ronald Pantin.

Earlier this year Pacific Rubiales completed construction on the 235 km Rubiales Oil Pipeline, which transports crude oil from the Rubiales Oil Field to the Monterrey Pumping Station, located on the OCENSA Pipeline.
