Pakistani ambassador to Iran, Muhammad Bux Abassi told local media that India had definitely quite the pipeline, Iranian officials are said to have denied such comments.

In May this year, Iran and Pakistan signed a gas sales agreement to facilitate the development of the project however India refrained due to concerns about the pipeline’s security.

At the time Iran and Pakistan said that this did not mean that India would not join the project at a later stage.

The original Iran – Pakistan – India pipeline proposal was to be 2,670 km long, running from the Assaluyen gas field in southern Iran to the Gas Authority of India Limited’s Hazira – Vijaipur – Jagdishpur pipeline in Gujarat.

The pipeline is now expected to have a total length of will now of 1,935 km.
