Pak Arab Refinery Co’s white oil pipeline project is expected to be commissioned by the end November, or early December, this year. The $481-million pipeline project will link Port Qasim, Karachi, to Mahmood Kot, Multan.
The 26-in diameter, 817-km long pipeline will have a capacity of 12 million tons/yr of white oil. According to a published report, the refined oil products would be sent through the new pipeline thus reducing traffic of road tankers, which are presently transporting the oil products along the route.
Four pumping stations have been installed along the pipeline, and the project is being implemented on build, own, and operate (BOO) basis, with Parco being the executing agency. The joint venture partners of the project includes Parco (51%), Shell (26%), Caltex (12%), and Pakistan State Oil (11%).
