The contract was awarded by the Mexican national oil and gas company Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex). Work on the project is expected to begin in November 2009 and take approximately 16 months to complete.

The new and rehabilitated pipelines will be used to transfer oil from wellheads to production facilities in the Chicontepec Basin.

UPM is a joint venture enterprise between United Pipeline Systems, a division of Insituform Technologies, and Miller Pipeline de Mexico.

Insituform subsidiaries Corrpro Companies and the Bayou Company will provide cathodic protection and field joint coating services for the project.
