The 661 km trunkline connects Urucu to Manaus and has seven branches that will supply the cities of Coari, Codajas, Anori, Anama, Caapiranga, Manacapuru, and Iranduba with natural gas.
The pipeline forms part of Brazil’s growth acceleration program and will institute a significant shift in Brazil’s energy consumption from diesel fuel and oil to natural gas.
The pipeline’s initial capacity is 4.1 MMcm/d of gas but will rise to 5.5 MMcm/d of gas by September 2010.
Transpetro will operate the pipeline through an automated system, which will be conducted through the National Operational Control Center, located in Rio de Janeiro.
