Pre-construction works on the GCC Pipeline are scheduled to begin in March with mobilisation of the workforce and installation of the camp along the pipeline route. Right-of-way clearance is scheduled to commence in April.

Phase II of the pipeline is from Villa Tunari to Pampa Tambo through the area called ‘The chair’, which is considered the most complicated due to the rugged terrain, with many geotechnical risks, high rainfall, and a consequent permissible construction window of only few months of the year. Construction on Phase II is expected to conclude in April 2012.

The 16 inch diameter, 251 km long, GCC pipeline is being constructed in three phases; Phase I Carrasco – Villa Tunari (108 km), Phase II Villa Tunari Section II – Pampa Tambo (78 km) and Phase III Pampa Tambo – Cochabamba (65 km).

Phase I of the pipeline was commissioned in June 2010.
