Spectra Energy has signed an agreement with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to expand its East Tennessee Natural Gas (ETNG) pipeline system to provide up to 150 MMcf/d of gas for TVA’s proposed 88 MW combined-cycle gas-fired power station to be located in northeast Tennessee.

The project would include the expansion and modification of existing facilities on the ETNG system as well as the construction of a new 14 km mainline extension.

The proposed ETNG pipeline system expansions would be put in service during the second half of 2011 and is subject to company and regulatory approvals.

In addition, Tennessee Gas has cleared another regulatory hurdle for its proposed expansion of the Tennessee Gas Pipeline.

The project will see the construction of a 25 km, 30 inch looping pipeline extending from Wantage, east through Vernon and West Milford before ending at Ringwood.

The expansion will deliver 35 per cent more gas to the North Jersey market.
