State-run Philippine National Oil Company Exploration Corporation (PNOC-EC) has said that it is currently in talks with foreign companies regarding the proposed Bataan – Manila (Batman-2) pipeline, according to the Manila Times.
In a regulatory filing, PNOC-EC said it is holding talks with China’s XinAo Gas, Japanese Mitsubishi Corporation, and PTT of Thailand for the development of the Batman-2 gas pipeline.
The Batman-2 pipeline will traverse 150 km to link Bataan to Manila. The project also includes the construction of a 35 km spur line (Batcave) to industrial areas in Rosario, Cavite province, and subtransmission pipelines to serve potential gas users in the areas through which the pipeline passes.
The aim behind the project is to make gas from Malampaya, the country’s largest gas field, available to consumers in the industrial, commercial, transport and residential sectors of Metropolitan Manila.
