Preliminary approval for York County natural gas pipeline
Wed, 16 September 2009
A proposed 42.5 km natural gas pipeline to run through eastern York County, Pennsylvania, the United States, has received preliminary approval from a representative from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
The FERC sends representatives to location during the pre-filing stage of construction applications to expedite the licensing process. The Commission then makes a final decision after receiving the representatives report.
The York County project has been proposed by Texas Eastern a wholly-owned subsidiary of Spectra Energy. If the pipeline obtains final approval it will connect existing pipelines in Peach Bottom Township and Marietta, Lancasta County.
The FERC is required to make the final decision for applications to construct natural gas pipelines under the Natural Gas Act.
