This is expected to kick-start the $multi-million Gulf-South Asia Gas (Gusa) project, sponsored by Crescent Petroleum. Crescent is also implementing a gas-development project on a build-own-operate basis to supply gas to the northern Emirates. Gas for the Gusa project will be produced from Qatar's North Field. Qatar Petroleum will allow Crescent Petroleum to initially produce 1.6 billion cuft/d of pipeline-quality gas to Pakistan for 25 years. The field, which has proven gas reserves of 900 trillion cuft, will attract $60 billion of investment by 2010. "The project implementation of Gusa will proceed in three phases, the first of which will see the completion of all contractual arrangements with Qatar and Pakistan," said a Crescent spokesman.
