Gazprom Management Committee Chairman Alexey Miller has told the World Gas Conference in Argentina that Romania is interested in the South Stream project.
Mr Miller said that the Romanian interest in the project created possibilities for Russia in regard to the South Stream project including the possibility of constructing a gas pipeline branch to Romania.
Gazprom has agreements regarding South Stream with Bulgarian, Greek and Serbian energy companies, and agreements with Austria and Slovenia are also planned.
The South Stream Pipeline will deliver gas from Russia and Central Asia to Europe via the Black Sea.
