Kern River has filed a formal application to boost firm transportation capacity on its system through the construction of a 45 km, 36 inch diameter pipeline in an unlooped portion of Kern River’s existing mainline across the Wasatch Mountain in northern Utah, and through additional compression at three existing compressor stations.

Meanwhile Enbridge Pipelines has said that the first 61 km section of the 547 km Lacrosse pipeline Project could come online as early as November 2011 in a prefiling application submitted to the FERC.

The proposed system, with a design capacity of 1.8 Bcf/d, would be constructed in two phases. During Phase I, Enbridge will construct and commission the 42 and 36 inch diameter pipeline segments running from the Enbridge Carthage Hub to Point Coupee Parish, Louisiana, and a 24 inch segment extending from Point Coupee Parish to Petrologistics, LLC’s Choctaw Storage facility in Iberville Parish, Louisiana.

Enbridge has said that it will file a formal application by June 1 2010 and has asked the commission to issue a certificate in April 2011.
