A SUCCESSFUL subsea pipeline survey has recently been completed by Lafayette-based C & C Technologies’ ‘autonomous underwater vehicle’ (AUV), aboard the R/V Rig Supporter, where the company completed 1,300km of survey lines for the Akpo field for TotalFinaElf Nigeria.
This pipeline survey was completed in 12 days, and provided high-resolution swath multibeam bathymetry and imagery, ‘chirp’ side-scan sonar, and sub-bottom profiler data to water depths greater than 1,400m.
The AUV, aboard the R/V Rig Supporter, began a 10-day passage from the coast of West Africa to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 21 November 21. Offshore Brazil, the company will perform two site-specific hazard surveys and a pipeline as-built survey for Petrobras. The surveys are expected to begin on 4 December and be completed by 12 December.
C & C’s AUV collects high-resolution multibeam bathymetry, side-scan sonar, and sub-bottom profiler data in a single pass. The company has performed more than 18,000km of deepwater AUV surveys for a wide variety of clients over the last two years.
