THE tender for the construction of subsea gas pipelines from East Kalimantan to Central Java have been postponed as no bidders have submitted proposals. Bidders were expected to submit their proposals not later than 28 April, but by 26 April none had come up with an offer, the oil and gas regulating body BPH Migas said.
The deadline has therefore been extended until 31 May to allow the bidders more time to prepare their documents.
BPH Migas did not say the reason for he failure of the bidders to submit their plans for the project, which is worth $billions. Five companies are understood to have expressed interest, including PT PGN, PT Bakrie & Brothers, PT Barata Indonesia, PT Alfa Karsa Persada, and PT Bumi Kharisma Lininusa. Meanwhile, BPH Migas is reported to have fired Nafrizal Sikumbang, who was in charge of the tender, for allegedly leaking the results of a feasibility study held by PGN on the project.
