Statoil and its partners in the Gudrun field licence – Marathon Petroleum and GDF Suez – have agreed to submit a plan for development and operation (PDO) of the Gudrun field to the Norwegian authorities.
Gudrun will be developed with a platform for partial processing and export of the field’s oil and gas. The platform is to be developed as a fixed processing platform with seven production wells and will be tied back to existing facilities in the Sleipner area and the Kårstø processing plant north of Stavanger.
The Gudrun field is located 55 km north of Sleipner and water depth in the area is 110 m.
“The decision marks an important milestone in the continued development of this part of the Norwegian continental shelf,” said Statoil Executive Vice President for Exploration & Production Norway Øystein Michelsen.

Gudrun contains some 132 MMboe, with crude accounting for about two thirds of the amount, while high reservoir pressure and temperature call for the use of special technology.
