The project runs from feasibility study right through to installation and commissioning, and will double the lifespan of the existing pipeline control system. The project involves modernizing the existing hardware and software platforms, and replacing the local control panels and communications infrastructure. This strategy to upgrade the existing SCADA system has been possible as a result of the way the existing SCADA system, installed over 15 years ago by BPA, was developed. Much of the existing pipeline specific software applications, such as leak detection, will be transferred across to the new platform, and specific management systems including pipeline scheduling and movement accounting systems will be enhanced. This project will further enhance one of the most utilized multi-product pipelines in Europe and demonstrates the company’s in-house capability to manage a project of this size and complexity.
