The 42 inch diameter pipeline will increase the transportation capacity of gas produced from OML 58, located onshore Nigeria, approximately 85 km northwest of Port Harcourt in the Niger Delta.

Increased transportation is required after Total E&P Nigeria began an upgrade project at the OML 58 Obite gas treatment plant in October 2008 to increase gas production capacity from 10.6 MMcm/d to 15.6 MMcm/d and also increase oil and condensate output by around 15,000 bbl/d bringing the total output to 140,000 bboe/d.

The EPSCC contract was signed at a ceremony, which took place at the offices of Total in Lagos, on January 29 2010.

Total E&P Nigeria Managing Director Guy Maurice said the pipeline “will cross many communities within the Niger Delta region and Total E&P Nigeria Limited is confident that the project execution will positively contribute to local development in these areas”.
