"According to the international energy agency," she said, "demand for gas is set to grow from 3%/yr to 60%/yr between 2004 and 2030." To meet this rise, TIGF intends to invest £137 million in expanding the underground gas reservoir in Lussagnet, SW France, adding an extra 100m cum/yr of capacity up to 2018. "Our aim is to be able to cope with sharp peaks in demand, for example during the winter months," Ms Delamarre said. TIGF will also invest £125 million in constructing the Guyenne gas pipeline which will connect Lussagnet with the north of the country, and £9 million in extending the pipelines between Lussagnet and the other SW reservoir at Izaute.
