Turkmenistan’s state-run gas company Turkmengaz has finished building the Turkmenistan – Iran pipeline, which is ready for commissioning, according to local news sources.
The pipeline will carry gas from Turkmenistan’s Dovletabad gas deposit to the Iranian border. The pipeline project is part of an agreement to increase the sale of Turkmen natural gas to Iran to 14 Bcm/a. Of this, 6 Bcm/a will come from the Dovletabad gas deposit.
When visiting the Dovletabad field, Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov said “Intensified co-operation with Iran in the field of natural gas supplies is consistent with [Turkmenistan's] strategy of diversification of energy exports, mutual benefits, economic expediency and sound competition.”
The gas pipeline will be commissioned in December.
