Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has travelled to Turkmenistan to officially open the Turkmenistan – Iran pipeline.
The pipeline carries gas from Turkmenistan’s Dovletabad gas deposit to the Iranian border. The pipeline project is part of an agreement to increase the sale of Turkmen natural gas to Iran to 14 Bcm/a. Of this, 6 Bcm/a will come from the Dovletabad gas deposit.

Mr Ahmadinejad said that the two countries will continue to co-operate in relation to the energy sector.
