THE Ukrainian Fuel and Energy Ministry plans to increase gas transit to Europe to 122bn cum in 2007, the republic's Energy Minister Yury Boyko told a press briefing recently. The ministry will try to use Ukraine's gas transportation system to its maximum capacity and, Mr Boyko said, in 2007 alone Ukraine would raise $250 million in loans from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for the development of the country's gas transportation system. Mr Boyko went on to point out that Ukraine should become a reliable transit partner for both Russia and Europe. In 2006, the country transported 113.8bn cum of gas from Russia to Europe.
