RUSSIA’S YUKOS is ready to export oil to the USA at a price not lower than $19 per barrel, Yukos’ head, Mikhail Khodorkovsky, told journalists in late February.
He pointed out that the USA was ready to buy 1-million barrels of oil per day, even in the event of an Iraqi war. Moreover, Khodorkovsky stressed that the company was increasing its oil supplies to China by railroad, and has agreed with SINOPEC to increase oil supplies to 1.6-million tons in 2003 and 2.5-million tons in 2004. China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) is also to buy 2-million tons in 2003.
Yukos is one of the participants in the Western Siberia-Murmansk oil pipeline project, aimed at transporting oil to the USA. Upon completion of this project, USA will be in a position to import up to 13% of its total oil imports from Russia.
