Gazprom set to lead oil and gas capital expenditure

GlobalData research has found that Gazprom will lead the world’s capital expenditure in oil and gas to 2025.

Gazprom, China Petrochemical (Sinopec) and Shell will be outlay the largest investment on planned and announced projects.

Gazprom tops the list with estimated capital expenditure of US$160 billion expected to be spent on 84 oil and gas projects around the world.

Sinopec follows with US$87 billion to be spent on 74 projects and Shell with US$86 billion on 91 projects.

The GlobalData report, H1 2018 Top Global Oil and Gas Companies Planned Projects and Capital Expenditure Outlook, outlines that in the midstream sector, Gazprom is expected to lead the pipeline and gas processing segments in terms of spending.

In pipelines alone, Gazprom is estimated to spend US$71 billion to bring 18 planned and announced projects on line by 2025.

“In the LNG liquefaction segment, Qatar Petroleum is projected to spend an estimated capex of US$35 billion on two upcoming liquefaction terminals by 2025, while China National Offshore Oil Corporation leads in regasification capex, with US$4 billion to be spent on three upcoming regasification terminals,” said GlobalData Oil and Gas Analyst Raj Sekhar.
