Eni has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a state African company for gas supply and transportation.
The Italian company secured the agreement with Algeria’s state-owned SONATRACH regarding the renewal of a gas supply contract and transportation arrangement via a pipeline crossing the Mediterranean Sea.
The MoU, which strengthens the long-term relationship between the two companies, was signed by Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi and SONATRACH Chairman and CEO Rachid Hachichi.
Eni has been active in Algeria since the 1950s and was the first foreign company to sign an agreement with SONATRACH for the construction of the Transmed gas pipeline in the 1970s.
