Shipments have commenced through the pipeline, transporting crude oil from the Permian Basin to Texas, US.
On 12 August 2019, Trafigura Trading started moving product through the Cactus II Pipeline system, stretching from the Permian to Corpus Christi, on the US Gulf Coast.
The pipeline has the capacity to transport 670,000 bbl/d of crude oil.
This activity is underpinned by a long-term volume commitment announced by Trafigura in early 2018 and represents the initial commercial service of Cactus II, with its deliveries connecting to an export service to Europe and beyond.
“Trafigura is at the forefront of connecting the American barrel to the global market,” said Trafigura Head of Crude Trading Kevin Jebbitt.
“Thanks to our worldwide network, we can demonstrate to US producers a unique ability to place barrels with end customers around the world, from the Mediterranean to the far east.
