The Appalachia-to-Texas pipeline (ATEX) will transport ethane from the Marcellus/Utica Basin of Pennsylvania to Texas.
Enterprise will proceed with the 1931.2 km ethane pipeline following customer commitments received during a recent 30-day binding open season.
The current capacity of ATEX is approximately 145,000 barrels per day (BPD) and is being evaluated for expansion alternatives to increase capacity to 45,000 BPD, which is expected to be achieved through improvements and modifications to existing infrastructure.
Enterprise Senior Vice President, Pipelines and Terminals Michael Hanley said the open season’s success reflects the demand for additional, reliable ethane.
“Our customers value flow assurance and reliability,” said Mr Hanley.
“The expansion of ATEX will facilitate growing production from the Marcellus/Utica Basin and will provide access to attractive markets on the Gulf Coast through Enterprise’s integrated midstream network.”
Enterprise anticipates the increased capacity of the pipeline will be available by 2022.
