ASME moves event to December

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) has postponed its Robotics for Inspection and Maintenance event to 9–10 December 2020 to ensure it can still take place in person.

The event, titled ‘Bridging the gap between the expert and asset’, will feature a unique combination of live demonstrations, case studies and expert discussions that will help businesses optimise inspection, maintenance and repair while simultaneously improving safety and lowering costs.

As a growing industry, robotics is becoming a primary investment across the globe for many businesses and organisations.

ASME said currently companies are spending more than approximately US$40 billion a year on inspections alone; even more including maintenance as well.

With expenditures this large it is important to make sure that these inspections are thoroughly detecting and effectively predicting corrosion, leaks and defects to signal any impending problems, which the conference aims to demonstrate.

The event will take place in College Station, Texas, with ASME continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation to ensure the health and safety of its meeting and conference participants.
